Costa Rica Stamps: Ultra Rare Special Delivery Receipt On Cover

There are only 2 special delivery receipts on cover reported.

There are some topics that you’ve always heard of, but you haven’t seen a single item of those, for example, the special delivery receipt on cover.

Well, I was fortunate enough to find one!

The special delivery receipt is a piece of paper (about 10×15 centimeters) that is hand stamped with an uncommon cancelation that reads ” INFORMACION, REZAGOS Y LISTA DE CORREOS *SAN JOSE*”. Then a small form must have been completed and signed at the final destination. The purpose of this form was to have proof of delivery.

Maybe on purpose or maybe just luck, the special delivery receipt was attached to the cover using the censorship tape. This “helped” retain the special delivery receipt.

The cover was sent from San Jose on February 29th, 1944 to Buenos Aires, Argentina. It has a franking of 2 colones and 40 centimos which seems right but needs more study.
